What are Cold Sores?
Cold sores are blisters or scabs that commonly appear on the lips of a person with influenza or the common cold. The mouth sores are very common worldwide and it is noted that cold sores seem to be most prevalent during the winter months or cold weather. The sores are usually an indicator that the body's immune system is weak. The condition is caused by the herpes simplex virus, which is very contagious, but harmless. Mint and sage have been proven to contain substances that prevent the development and spread of mouth sores. These can be added to your cup of tea or crushed and rubbed into the sore.
