How to Get Perfect Skin: 10 Tips for Beautiful, Glowing Skin by Wesley Mccormick
1. Take care of your skin - the earlier, the better
We all know that we shouldn't ignore or abuse our skin, but life can get ahead of us and we forget to moisturize, put on sunscreen, or even wash our face. What's important is that we make a conscious effort to prevent any further damage. To get perfect skin, you should start with some form of skin treatment or anti-aging regimen as early as possible - remember, it's never too early to start taking care of your skin.
2. Be gentle
Avoid harsh scrubs and heavy exfoliation, and try to find alternatives to frequent waxing. These processes are damaging to your skin cells, especially when done constantly. Other small steps include patting your skin dry (instead of wiping your towel to dry your face), daily moisturizing, gentle shaving, and limiting contact with hot water (e.g., taking long hot showers or baths).
3. Exfoliate and exfoliate properly
Exfoliating sloughs away dead skin cells, refreshes and brightens your complexion, and reveals renewed, younger-looking skin. As mentioned above, be gentle and avoid rough scrubs and scrubbing too hard or too fast. The proper way to exfoliate is to slowly and lightly make circles with your fingertips, without pressing too hard. When done properly, exfoliating will leave your skin smooth and glowing. It's also a great primer for putting on products, as it opens and clears out pores to prepare skin for absorption.
4. Moisturize
Reduce dry skin and wrinkles by keeping your skin hydrated. Use lotions and creams with shea butter, jojoba butter, and other moisturizing ingredients. The best time to moisturize is right after a lukewarm shower, while the skin is still slightly damp. For better results, consider using an in-shower body lotion or body oil, and follow with your regular lotion when you get out of the shower.
5. Always Protect Your Skin
If you want perfect skin, you must protect it from environmental damage. Wear sunscreen everyday and avoid too much exposure to the sun to prevent wrinkles and delay the aging process. If you must go out, wear protective clothing like a hat on sunny days, or long sleeves or a scarf on cold, windy days to avoid drying out.
6. Apply facial masks regularly
Masks are a great way to clean your face, while targeting problem areas, like dark circles and dry or oily skin. Facial masks not only nourish your skin, but they can help treat problematic skin like acne or simply give your skin a dose of anti-aging treatments. Apply facial masks regularly to treat and re-condition your skin.
7. Use the right products for your skin type
Sometimes, we use products that we have grown used to or are highly recommended by others, but those products aren't necessarily good for us. When it comes to getting perfect skin, the right products make all the difference - for dry skin, avoid products with drying agents, such as those made for oily skin; if you have oily skin, stick to products for oily skin types and avoid heavy moisturizers. Most importantly, if you have sensitive skin, avoid irritation by making sure that your skin care products don't have harsh chemicals and are designed just for sensitive skin. Using the wrong products won't only worsen existing skin problems, but new ones could arise.
8. Eat your fruits and vegetables
Fruits and vegetables have your life-long BFF's, also known as vitamins and antioxidants - your ultimate sources of power to getting perfect skin. Antioxidants get rid of harmful free radicals that are damaging to the skin. Berries, pomegranate, and other fruits are a great source of antioxidants, as well as green tea and lemon juice. You should also make sure to always include dark, leafy vegetables into your diet. Additionally, a healthy diet consisting of vitamins like Vitamin B (eggs, oatmeal, bananas, rice), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Vitamin A, and Vitamin K help to improve and protect the skin, prevent or diminish dark eye circles, and overall give you better health that leads to perfect skin.
9. Avoid stress and get plenty of sleep
It's amazing how stress can take a toll on our skin. Stress gives us eye bags, puffy skin, water retention, and, worse, acne and skin sensitivity. Although a stressful lifestyle wreaks havoc on our skin, unfortunately, we can't always avoid it. The best thing to do is try to manage stress effectively and get it (and our skin) under control. One way of doing this is to make sure you get 6-8 hours of sleep every night, as getting enough sleep helps us to think clearly and deal with stress better. Sleep also helps with cell turnover, a crucial aspect of achieving beautiful skin. There's a reason why they say skin care products work the best at night while you sleep.
10. Stop Smoking!
One of the worst things you can do for your skin is smoking. Smoking is not only horrible for your pores, but it does a number on your skin, such as: inhibits nutrients from absorption, ages your skin, gives you wrinkles, constricts blood vessels, and weakens elasticity. There are enough unavoidable toxins and environmental pollution that seriously damage our skin; there is no need to add more to it! Getting perfectl, healthy skin also means adopting a healthier lifestyle.
