Advantages of Using Natural Handmade Soap vs. Commercial Soaps by Deborah White
If you find that your skin is regularly dry, scratchy and uncomfortable or irritated skin after showering, you might have to thank your soap. Common commercial soap ingredients include both the everyday and the unspeakable, a tiny bit of cocoa butter and glycerin on the list along with tallowate sodium, sodium cocoate, pentetate pentasodium, triclosan and trisodium etidronate.
Ingredients such as triclosan are not only irritating to the skin of many people it is hard on the environment. Sodium tallowate, the natural byproduct of beef fat mixed with lye, is probably not something that is preferable when choosing bath products! Ingredients such as tetra sodium EDTA are known irritants but not something that a mass producer of soap is liable to advertise.
Commercial soaps are often little more than abrasive detergents with fragrance and with occasional moisturizer added. These products can dry out your unfortunate skin and leave a residue that irritates it even more! Repeated exposure to detergents and artificial ingredients can sensitize the skin and leaves more vulnerable to environmental stresses. While commercial soaps can get you clean, these harsh detergents simply cannot stand up against natural handmade soap.
Our handmade natural soaps are made with organic shea butter, cold pressed olive oil, organic aloe vera, certified pure essential oils, and organic wild-crafted herbs. Our handmade natural soap with its natural glycerin contains no artificial fragrances, preservatives or dyes to irritate your skin. Instead, we add the shea butter from the West African Karite tree, organic coconut oil, and other ingredients to leave skin silky and pliant.
