Why Florence is One Of The Most Interesting Cities in Europe by Gary Morales
So many things to see in such a beautiful city as Florence is! Naked as Michelangelo's David and robust in the latest winter fashion their own world-class designers, Florence and their town never fail to impress. Anyone who needs oxygen after admiring their art, visitors are mesmerized by the vision of residents aperitivo time, hassle strutting, flirting and of course enjoy life. At times it seems not much has changed since the days of the Medici.
Of course many haschanged. Florence short term as Italy's capital in 1865 was like a shot of adrenaline. The city bulldozed, built restructuring all, wiped out entire neighborhoods and demolished the medieval walls. And so the stage was set for the modern regional capital of Tuscany. Along broadviali (lanes) that surrounds a jumble of old Florence endless traffic tearing round the chaotic style. Horns honk and brakes squeal as Florentines dart in and out of lanes in search of a break in traffic. The pearl of the Italian Renaissance is largely what it was - a bustling business center. Even before the Renaissance was over, the wily Florentine admit that their city was in decline, increasingly trampled on the European stage. But they never forget their proud heritage, and it was rediscovered in all seriousness by the rest ofEurope from the late 18 century. Admiring and curious travelers, especially the English, down over the city as part of their Grand Tour. Ever crafty with value (after all, the inventor of the Florentine Florin, one of the most successful currency in history), the local managed to cash in because they still, with great aplomb.
The happy couple have their first glimpse of Florence from the south. The way that rival Siena takes you to the heights supporting the southern bank of the Arno. Medieval and Renaissance Florence was an economic powerhouse, but it was never a romantic place. The great palaces and fine families used the money to build churches, public buildings and art, but not from a love of beauty. To show the greatness was too big. The majesty of the Romanesque Baptistery, the Duomo gothic and renaissance basilicas, a publicity so much power and wealth of the leading families of Florence as the city's artistic abilities. The families are gone, but the ads live on!
Florentines are born in an extraordinary world of timeless beauty, it is not surprising that they grow their appearance and make it as effortless. Home to the will, Gucci and Ferragamo, Florence means one thing: style, both past and present. Phalanx stylish shops in a line along the galleries and palaces.
When the shops close, it's time to eat. Down to a meal of simple Tuscan tomato stew, followed by steak first in a family business or splashing in a trattoria in the classic city gourmet restaurants or eateries stylish design. Florence is known for its top-quality Chianti, but you know the other wonderful Tipple Montalcino Brunello is Vino Nobile di Montepulciano and the more daring Super Tosca are.
You can easily explore Tuscany with Florence as a base: Enjoy the splendor of medieval Siena, Pisa, Lucca and San Gimignano, and walk the hilly landscape of Chianti.
